I was admitted as a solicitor in November 1993.

Following several years as an assistant solicitor and then a Partner at Ewart Price Solicitors, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, where I was a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), and a member of the Law Society and then the SRA specialist Personal Injury Panels, I formed Broadgate Legal in January 2010.

I have retained my membership of APIL and the practice is also a member of the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS).

Broadgate Legal predominantly acts for claimants who have been injured due to negligence or breach of statutory duty, but we also conduct employment and immigration work, and have capacity to handle Wills, Probate and General Litigation.

Broadgate Legal is intentionally distinct from a typical law practice, in that we encourage initiative and independence among our colleagues, and many of the fee earners work with a personal client base, and operate remotely from external locations, using the best in modern digital information technology so as to reduce overheads, and give the practice a truly national presence.

We provide services among a wide range of demographics and, with our translation associates, we offer legal advice and assistance to a varied client base, in a number of languages, which include Bulgarian, Romanian, Russian, Polish, and Lithuanian.

In our own offices we have colleagues who speak Portuguese, Urdu, Gujerati, Hindi, Punjabi, and Bengali.

I am proud to have had a part in the creation of a truly unique legal practice, and, together with my colleagues, I do my best to ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the best possible legal services and representation.

Mark Fowler

I qualified in August 2021, and joined Broadgate Legal Solicitors, as a solicitor in February 2022. I spent the bulk of my training contract working in personal injury and immigration have continued to work as both an immigration and personal injury solicitor with Broadgate Legal.

I deal with a wide range of immigration matters and have gained extensive experience in complex personal injury claims, credit hire and general litigation matters through supporting senior solicitors.

Asif Mohammed

I have been working as a Claims Litigation Manager for almost 8 years at Broadgate Legal. I have a wide range experience in handling a wide range of Fast Track and Multi Track claims. I come from Claimant background, which has enabled me to acquire the necessary expertise to conduct Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims. I am tactically astute in handling claims to conduct matters with a view to issuing court proceedings against the Defendant at the earliest possible stage.

I now specialize in personal injury litigation and manage a team of 3 fee earners. I am extremely skillful in recovering credit hire charges. My biggest achievement so far to date is settling a Road Traffic Accident claim where I reached a settlement of excess in the sum of £165,000.

Away from office, I play football, running, cycling and badminton. Recently I cycled almost over 50 miles in one day for charity in a road racing bike.

Mursalin Hussain

I joined Broadgate Legal in 2014 and have remained with the firm since. I have expertise in the following areas of law:

After joining Broadgate Legal I was able to develop my skill set and now commonly appear in various County Courts up and down the country, representing my client’s both in Fast track and Multi track litigation. I always attempt alternative dispute resolution in the first instance before initiating court proceedings. Should litigation and trial at Court become necessary, I am a robust but fair litigator that will always aim to achieve the best outcome for my client.

Martini and Zeqo v (1) Royal & Sun Alliance (2) AXA Corporate Solutions Assurance (3) Southern Rock Insurance [2022] EWHC 33 (QB) High Court

(Multiple vehicle pileup on the M20 motorway- resulting in serious and life changing injuries)

This case attracted media attention. I acted for the lead Claimant and had overall conduct of the matter from inception of the claim in 2015 right the way through to trial which took place 6 years later in December 2021. The matter culminated into a four-day split liability trial at the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court. The trial consisted of 5 separate parties, represented by 5 distinct barristers, and 4 accident reconstruction experts. I instructed Iwan Parry of the Transport Research Laboratory to produce accident reconstruction evidence for our client at trial. Richard Furniss and Adrian Higgins of 42Bedford Row were instructed for advocacy at trial. I was successful in achieving judgement in favour of my client, damages were settled in excess of £250,000.00.

Car Doctors Ltd v Servicing Stop Ltd [2021] Romford County Court

(Dept recovery- breach of implied contract)

I was engaged on behalf of Car Doctors in recovering a Debt against Servicing Stop Ltd. I was able to obtain judgement in favour of my client, however the Defendant company did not pay up the damages that were ordered at trial and as such I had to progress this matter to Court enforcement.

I engaged DCBL (high court enforcement agents – as seen on Don’t Pay We’ll Take it Away) and I was successful in recovering 100% of the debt and the costs that were due to my client.

Sohail Mahmood

I joined Broadgate Legal in March 2017 having met Mark Fowler regularly at the regional Motor Accident Solicitor Society Meetings. I was impressed with the vision and drive that Mark has for Broadgate Legal and by coming in as an experienced Operations Manager I know I can help streamline the practice even further.

I began dealing in personal injury claims as far back as 1990 on the defendant side but switched to a claimant role in 1998, initially as a Fee Earner but soon promoted to a Manager.

As well as dealing with personal injury claims myself, I am responsible for overseeing the growth of the debt recovery arm of the firm. As the title suggests, I am very involved in the day to day issues that arise and regularly meet with suppliers and clients on a face to face basis, both in London and in the Medway Towns where I am based.

Away from the office, I can usually be found in a football stadium or on a fairway, often with the same disbelieving face.

Graham Saunders

I have been working at Broadgate Legal for over a year now and I am also currently completing my Business Legal Administration apprenticeship. In the office, I assist with the day-to-day administration tasks that are essential to the smooth running of the firm. I also support fee earners with their cases and I deal with my own cases while completing paralegal duties as well. Working at Broadgate Legal my knowledge and skills broadens every day and my goal for the future is to become a successful solicitor. I am fluent in Turkish, so I am able to assist any Turkish-speaking clients, I have also recently started to study British Sign language and hope to become fluent one day.

I am quite adventurous and love to visit new countries, learn about new cultures and try out new cuisines. I like to go to the gym, socialise with people and do some art in my free time.

Ilkay Demirag

I graduated in Law from Aston University in 2020. I have previously gained experience in immigration and family law working at other solicitor firm. I joined Broadgate Legal Solicitors in October 2020. Since working here I have gained extensive experience in litigation, more specifically personal injury matters and damage claims. I now work closely with a Senior Solicitor assisting him on complex personal injury claims, credit hire and other general litigation matters.

Mustafaa Ahmed

I have been working at Broadgate legal for nearly a year as a paralegal.

I am currently an LPC and LLM student. Having attended many trials and assisting senior colleagues issuing proceedings on a day to day basis, I have grasped many transferable skills in relation to general litigation matters.

As a result of assisting senior solicitors, I have developed substantial knowledge in personal injury cases along with credit hire.

Shadia Ali

I am currently a Level 3 Business Legal Administration Apprentice at Broadgate Legal. I absolutely love working and studying at the same time.

I assist with daily tasks within the office. I support the team with administrative tasks, support fee earners with their cases, and as I progress, I expand my knowledge every day.

Having the opportunity to progress further as an apprentice gives you a variety of transferable interpersonal skills, knowledge, and expertise to apply further in my legal career.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, I would like to undertake the Paralegal Apprenticeship, or the Solicitor Apprenticeship.

I like to balance work with personal time. I like to spend time with my family, read books, cook, and listen to music.

Before joining Broadgate Legal, I gained valuable insights at various London firms, contributing to high-value claims and group litigation, particularly in loan agreement cases.

Currently, as a Trainee Solicitor at Broadgate Legal, my focus spans Personal Injury claims, Debt Recovery, and General Litigation, leveraging my E-commerce background for comprehensive legal support.

Rex Yiu

I have spent much of my life growing up in Hong Kong SAR and graduated from the University of London with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2017. Since then, I have worked in three separate common law jurisdictions.

Hong Kong SAR

In HKSAR, I have worked on a variety of practice areas, a bulk of which included personal injuries occuring in the construction industry, accidents at work and occupiers liability accidents.

Pakistan

In June 2020, I was admitted as an Advocate in Punjab, Pakistan. Much of the complex general litigation case work I was engaged varied at different Court levels. I have worked together with an experienced Supreme Court Advocate, and we dealt with contentious matter such as land disputes, consumer disputes, matrimonial issues and actions against public authorities. I have also worked on non-contentious criminal litigation. I have retained my practicing status and have a right of legally representing Clients for matters in Pakistan.

United Kingdom

I joined Broadgate Legal in June 2021 with a vision to continue consolidating my Personal Injury litigation experience. I recently completed half of my Solicitors Qualifying examinations and after completion of the other half, I expect to be qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales and gain full practicing status in this jurisdiction. My practice in Broadgate Legal as a Paralegal/Fee Earner includes handling a diverse portfolio of fast track personal injury litigation and also, assisting the practice Principal with complex and high value personal injury litigation.

I speak English, Punjabi, Cantonese, Urdu, Hindi and a few other helpful dialects. I also speak some French. I find that my skillset allows me to build and maintain a great working relationship with my Clients.

In my free time, I like to travel, meet new people and actively expand my circle of Cantonese speakers. I am also improving my French language skills and aim to get accreditation in due course.

Asaf Rana

I joined Broadgate Legal at the end of 2020 as a paralegal. Over the past four years, I've had the privilege of learning under the mentorship of Mursalin, which has allowed me to develop the expertise needed to become a fee earner. I currently specialize in Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) cases, assisting clients involved in accidents with uninsured or untraced drivers and guiding them through the complexities of the claims process. My experience includes setting up claims and supporting colleagues with personal injury, vehicle damage, and credit hire claims.

Outside of my work as a paralegal, I have a passion for art, which enhances my creativity and focus. I am also actively involved in charity work and am always eager to learn new skills and expand my knowledge.
